Forestina: The portable elegance of Murano glass

Forestina is the latest addition to the Forest collection, a portable, rechargeable, and compact table lamp that brings the magic of Murano glass to an even more versatile design. Created by designers Romani Saccani Architetti Associati, Forestina retains the stylized silhouette of a luminous vase, a signature element of the entire collection.

Designed for hospitality and fine dining settings, Forestina meets the need for a refined table lamp, perfect as a centrepiece, adding the delicate touch of a flower and the warm glow of an intimate gathering – without overpowering the surrounding table elements.

Venetian Craftsmanship, Versatility, and Innovation

Compared to Forest Mini, this model has been further refined: it features a single glass mold for the lampshade, made of clear Murano glass with balloton texture, while the base is crafted from an elegant metal cylinder.

The color variations are found in the base, available in four brushed metal finishes – brass, gold, copper, and nickel – allowing for seamless coordination with tableware, furnishings, and décor. Two distinct elements, lampshade and base, are innovatively connected via a magnetic assembly system.

Forestina is powered by a 7W LED board mounted on a circular support, projecting light from below to softly illuminate the glass diffuser. The lamp is fully battery-operated and rechargeable, ensuring cordless flexibility in any setting.

Ideal for enhancing any space with style, from an elegant lounge area to a sophisticated tablescape, Forestina embodies the perfect fusion of craftsmanship, technology, and contemporary design.

Designer

How did the original idea for this product come about?
The portable FORESTINA lamp is the latest addition to the FOREST collection of table lamps. It is the smallest, most compact and lightweight of the three, while retaining all the distinctive features of the previous version, simply scaled down even further: the same stylised profile of the luminous vase-shade, the same practicality of a battery-powered lamp that can be moved and carried anywhere, and the same refined possibility of adding a small fragrant bouquet.

What is the meaning behind the product name?
FORESTINA is simply the diminutive of FOREST, reflecting its smaller and more graceful proportions. The reference to nature also shifts in scale: no longer the profile of a tree, but a glass silhouette whose ballotton texture evokes the delicacy of a bud, the charm of a pine cone or the precious quality of a small faceted diamond.

How did the idea evolve once it was translated into glass?
To evolve and adapt FOREST Mini into the FORESTINA version, we had to streamline and simplify its components. We therefore moved from two glass elements — a luminous base and a vase-shade — to a single glass piece, focusing on the ballotton glass shade.

The white glass base was removed and integrated into the profile of the shade, which in this version attaches to the cylindrical base by means of a magnet. Finally, the colour variation that was previously provided by the watercolour-like shades of the vase-shade is now introduced through the cylindrical base, which also houses the LED system. It is available in four brushed metallic finishes — black nickel, gold, copper and bronze — while the ballotton shade is always blown in transparent crystal glass.

Are you satisfied with the result? How much does it differ from the original concept, and what interesting aspects emerged during the production process?
As this version is an evolution of the previous one, the result was naturally very satisfying. In fact, this further miniaturisation has made the lamp even more intimate and precious: a small gift to carry with you at all times, whether in a handbag or a suitcase.

What does light mean to you, and how do you like to work with it in your projects?
For us, working with light has always represented an extraordinary opportunity to enhance the space in which it is placed, associating it with a sense of surprise or well-being.

What did you particularly enjoy about collaborating with Multiforme?
Working with Multiforme means having, through Alessandro and his constant availability, the privilege of experimenting and researching while drawing on an immense empirical heritage of knowledge and craftsmanship. These skills can be applied to the development of contemporary collections that keep pace with advances in lighting technology, from LED systems and touch controls to rechargeable batteries.

If you could place your product anywhere in the world, where would the perfect setting be?
As a small portable lamp that requires no specific installation, this design can easily be used in virtually any setting, from residential interiors to hospitality and contract spaces. It can serve as a centrepiece on restaurant tables, bringing the gentleness and fragrance of a flower to the convivial atmosphere of a special occasion, without overpowering the other elements of the mise en place.

If we were to associate it with something poetic, it could be a tiny firefly: delicate and rare, moving lightly through the air at dusk before coming to rest in the palm of a hand.

Is there a project you have not yet realised but would like to bring to life in the future?
Considering the company’s know-how, it would perhaps be interesting to work on the concept of a new chandelier, potentially developed into XL versions, capable of expressing the full fascination of historic Murano chandeliers through a contemporary interpretation.
