Design by Leo De Carlo

LOB ARTISTIC CHANDELIER

LOB is an artistic modern chandelier designed by Leo De Carlo, drawing inspiration from the form of a spider. Balancing between fantastical imagery and compelling design applications, LOB is an enigmatic creature—haunting yet irresistibly captivating.

A spider descending from the ceiling, its multiple legs stretch into the surrounding space, casting light as it awaits its next prey. Slim, organic limbs float in the air, blending transparency and opacity in an unsettling yet fascinating interplay. The aesthetics of nature are reimagined to reinterpret the traditional Venetian chandelier.

Note: The archaic English word “lobbe” means “spider,” while “lob” in modern English suggests “hanging.”

Nature-Inspired Aesthetics in a Modern Crystal Chandelier

The LOB artistic chandelier is a stunning example of how a traditional Venetian chandelier can be transformed into a contemporary design masterpiece. It seamlessly merges the artistry of Murano glassmaking with the sleek lines of modern aesthetics. As a crystal modern chandelier, it serves not just as a source of illumination but as a defining statement of style and innovation.

Striking, haunting, and captivating, LOB inhabits and adorns spaces, becoming a focal point that demands attention. For architects and interior designers seeking distinctive lighting solutions, this modern chandelier large in scale is the perfect choice, blending beauty, functionality, and cutting-edge design.

Designer

Born in Venice in 1972. He graduated in Industrial Design at the Milan Polytechnic.
After an experience in the field of goldsmith design, he arrives in Philippe Starck’s studio. In Paris he is fascinated by design capable of expressing traditional craftsmanship in a contemporary key. Back in Italy he pursues these expressions by starting to collaborate with companies in which manual skill is a distinguishing element of production.
The son of antique dealers specialised in Venetian glass art, De Carlo re-elaborates the different craft traditions with which he came into contact, through his personal creative universe. A mix of high culture and pop culture that offers a playful, at times disturbing, vision of the contemporary world.
