Tripop

Design by Matteo Cibic

Matteo Cibic's Luminous Pop Universe in a New Portable Lamp

It resembles a bubble that has just landed from a light-saturated planet. Its name is Tripop, and it is the new table lamp born from the collaboration between designer Matteo Cibic‘s signature irony and Multiforme‘s master craftsmanship.

Tripop features a simple, almost childlike shape, punctuated by large circular glass pastilles. These appliqués are more than mere decoration: they multiply across the spherical surface like luminous confetti, dancing and echoing the light in a visual interplay. It’s a nod to the pop visions and Space Age aesthetics of the 1960s, where geometric repetition transforms into a celebration.

When lit, Tripop captivates the eye. The lamp creates a vibrant rhythm that engages the observer without ever taking itself too seriously, in true Cibic style. It is a design object that invites you to look, to touch, and to lose yourself in the enchantment of its colors.

Blown glass, primary colors, and a nod to the Sixties. A cordless bubble of light that invites playfulness and joy.

Multiforme’s exceptional craftsmanship is fully expressed through the material itself: the sphere is crafted from white blown glass, onto which the circular decorations are hot-applied. Offered in three absolute colorways (Red, Green, and Blue), these details turn Tripop’s light into primary energy. With their nuances and shimmering reflections typical of Murano glass, the colored accents interact with the surrounding space like three-dimensional graphic signs.

Beyond its magnetic aesthetics, Tripop is designed to inhabit contemporary spaces with total freedom. The lamp is battery-operated, fully rechargeable, and dimmable, resting on an elegant and sleek chrome-finished metal base. The absence of cables makes it a “nomadic” presence, easily moved around not just to illuminate a room, but to spark it to life, animate it, and set the scene in any situation.

Designer

Matteo Cibic (b. 1983, Parma Italy) is a groundbreaking transmedia creator who uses his craft to explore the world and imagine utopian futures.
Through his sculptural practice, he imbues everyday objects with a soul and personality, treating them as personas that bridge the gap between the animate and inanimate.

For over a decade, he has conducted “a sociological research about colors and objects,” investigating how they shape our daily lives.
Cibic’s work is rooted in pareidolia—the tendency to perceive faces or emotions in inanimate objects. Since 2022, he has extended this exploration to study plants’ emotions and knowledge, creating visual languages to map their interactions.
By blending innovative production methods with traditional craftsmanship from around the globe, he challenges material boundaries and reimagines how objects can interact with their surroundings.
At the core of Cibic’s work is his playful zoomorphic pottery, inspired by plant-like forms.

His creations provoke joy and wonder while raising profound questions about humanity’s role in a world increasingly influenced by artificial intelligence. Drawing on figures like Ernst Haeckel and Luigi Serafini, Cibic crafts speculative narratives where organic and artificial worlds meet in unexpected ways.

One of his most iconic projects, VasoNaso, exemplifies his unique fusion of humor, creativity, and rigorous experimentation with ceramics. For Cibic, even the slightest shift in form can suggest an entirely new species, sparking a playful yet meaningful exploration of evolution and diversity.

Through his work, Matteo Cibic invites us to embrace the fantastical and reimagine the familiar, offering glimpses of futures where objects, plants, and technology coexist in joyful, unpredictable harmony.
